【DEAR Chocolate lover】GODIVA produces bakery “GODIPAN.” Explanation of queues and recommended products :9

Hi!! I’m OKAERI that is traveler all over the world :))

OKAERI TRAVEL」 concept is to go on a highly satisfying trip tomorrow! I’d love to introduce fun places by local voice!

Do you like Chocolate??

YEAHHH, me tooooo!!!
Today I would love to introduce “Godipan”.
As you may know “GODIVA” that the one of most popular and luxury chocolate manufacture all over the world.
GODIVA has produced a bakery and it’s only in Japan.
The bakery name is “Godipan
Godi is from GODIVA, pan is from bread. In Japan, bread is called “pan”, and “pan” comes from the Latin word.

“Are there still long lines?”
“How much is it?”
“Which breads are recommended?”

Honestly ,when the bakery opened, it was difficult to get…. Because of long lines and soldout , or complicated ticket system.
But , more easy to get now.

I’ll explain below :))

Official website is Japanese only, they don’t have English ver.

“Godipan” is the first bakery opened by Godiva, a luxury chocolate brand originating from Brussels, Belgium.
It will open in August 2023. The location is inside the Tokyo Transportation Center(東京交通会館・Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan) near JR Yurakucho Station.

They make original breads that make good use of their strength chocolate.
In addition to sweet breads, they also have meal-type breads such as curry bread produced by Chocolatier and Belgian open-faced sandwichTartine” etc…

Breads with other items added to them, such as curry bread and chocolate coronet, are culturally eaten in Japan.

When you hear the name ”Godiva”, you may have an image of it being difficult to enter.
In that respect, Godipan’s product lineup is based on the concept of new and nostalgic, and is reminiscent of a Japanese local bakery ^^

New products are appearing one after another!

Godipan has a wide variety of new and seasonal menu items, such as cool sweet breads in the summer and stollen at Christmas, and more more chocolate menu at Valentine!!

We look forward to seeing what products are available not just once, but over and over again.

When you go Godipan, you can find great breads as well as feel Japanese traditional :9

When it first opened, we needed a numbered ticket to make a purchase, but now you can buy it by lining up in line.

However, Godipan is still popular X((
It was almost sold out by 5:00pm on both weekdays and holidays.

According to the store staff, out-of-stock items start appearing around 2:00 p.m.><
It is said that the event will end as soon as it is sold out, and it usually closes around 16:30 and 17:00!

When I went on a weekday in December 2024, there was a line of about 10-20 minutes at 2:00 p.m.
If there is a product you are interested in, it is better to arrive early!

What time should we go? ?

If you have a particular product in mind, we recommend going in the morning!

Do people line up before the store opens? How long do they wait?

When I went on a Sunday morning, there was already a line of several dozen people before the store opened. However, since the shop isn’t very large and is takeout only, the line moves quickly. Even if you arrive early in the morning, it seems you can purchase your bread within 30 minutes to an hour at most.

On weekdays during the day, there’s usually a short wait of about 10 minutes!

If you plan for a wait time of 10 minutes to an hour, you should be fine :))

When researching Godipan’s recommended menu, I found that the suggestions vary across websites, which can make it difficult to decide….X))
After combining the recommendations, these three items seem to be the most popular!!

Recommended & Popular Items!

Chocolate Coronet (ショコラコロネ)
Chocolatier’s Curry Bread (ショコラティエのカレーパン)
Cacao Fruit Cream Bread (カカオフルーツのクリームパン)

These three items are also featured in Godipan’s official catalog and are considered their signature products.

Among them, I tried the Chocolate Coronet and Chocolatier’s Curry Bread :9

Chocolate Coronet (ショコラコロネ) – 453 JPY (tax included)

This is an incredibly elegant chocolate coronet!
The brioche dough, crafted with care, offers the perfect marriage of chocolate and buttery flavors. Inside, there’s a single bar of dark chocolate.

This item is a crowd-pleaser, satisfying even the most die-hard chocolate lovers.
Variations with strawberry or matcha flavors are also available♬

It’s not overly sweet, making it a sophisticated choice for adults.

Chocolatier’s Curry Bread (ショコラティエのカレーパン) – 453 JPY (tax included)

The curry bread is packed with chunks of meat!
It’s not overly spicy and has the quality of authentic baked curry bread.
What makes it special is the addition of 55% cacao chocolate chunks scattered throughout. These add a unique flavor and texture, offering a completely new experience.

At home, I usually reheat our bread in a toaster, but for this curry bread, it’s best enjoyed as is, without reheating and rebaking.

While some online reviews mention that they didn’t like the curry bread, hahahaX) I personally found it delicious.

For those who are eating Godi bread for the first time

If you don’t want to take any chances, go for the Chocolate Coronet!
This classic item ensures satisfaction and gives you the full “Godipan” experience.

Looking for something unique?

If you’d like to try something a bit different, the Curry Bread is highly recommended. While opinions may vary, it’s a product that expands the possibilities of chocolate in new ways.

As for the Cacao Fruit Cream Bread, some people also recommend it, but reviews seem to be more mixed.

The shelf life of Godipan bread is limited to the day of purchase.
Here are some other points to keep in mind:

Almost no products left in the evening!

Since they no longer use a numbered ticket system, items tend to sell out earlier.

When I went on a Saturday at 3:30 PM, there was no line, but almost no products were left. Even on weekdays, items start selling out around 2:00 PM.

If you want to try their popular items, it’s best to visit in the morning!

Premium shopping bags cost extra

Godipan’s paper bag is 55 JPY (tax included), and their plastic bag is 22 JPY (tax included). The original Godipan design is quite cute, so it might be worth purchasing as a souvenir.
If you don’t care about the bag, bringing your own eco-bag is a good option!

With prices close to 500 JPY per item, and shelf lifeis limited to the day of purchase, trying every single bread might be a bit challenging, hahaha.

This time, I tried the Chocolate Coronet and Curry Bread, and both were absolutely delicious and satisfying! X)))

If you want a safe choice, go for the Chocolate Coronet. If you’re feeling adventurous, the Curry Bread is an excellent option.

Because of its novelty and popularity, Godipan also makes for a great gift for family or friends on special occasions!
